Welcome to Brazil: Play-off season previews
12.09.26, 11:01
The Liga Nacional de Futsal (LNF) expanded this season, from 24 teams in one massive division, to 32 teams split into two divisions of 16.
The top tier (LNF Cresol) has run to a similar format as previously - all sixteen teams play each other once (15 fixtures) and the top 12 qualify for the play-offs.
The second tier (LNF Silver) is almost exactly the same format. To make up for the lost games (there used to be 23 rounds in the regular season), a league cup competition has been added, but despite that there has been a bit of a gap to fill between the last round, the ‘Super-Rodada’, and the first round of play-offs (the ‘Pre-quartas’), which take place between all of the 5th-12th place teams.
