Welcome to Brazil: Home to 'the best futsal in the world'
22.08.26, 10:53 Updated 12.09.26, 11:03
“The best futsal in the world” - it’s a claim I wouldn’t argue with.
Brazil are the double reigning FIFA Futsal World Cup champions, the men’s team winning in Uzbekistan in 2024, the women’s team following it up convincingly six months later in the first ever women’s competition in the Philippines.
Across Europe’s top leagues, indeed the world’s top leagues, there are countless Brazilian professionals at all of the best clubs. Brazil could probably field 10 international teams, in both genders, capable of winning the World Cup.
But the “best” claim relates specifically to the “Liga Nacional de Futsal” (LNF), Brazil’s national futsal league and the pinnacle of the domestic game.
